Privacy policy

What this site collects, why, where it goes, and how to have it removed. It is short because the site collects very little.

Who is responsible

This site is operated by Arohan, based in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario. For anything on this page, including a request to see or delete what is held about you, the contact is Harsh, reachable on the contact page or by email.

Arohan handles personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Canada's federal private-sector privacy law, and sends commercial email under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.

What is collected, and only when you send it

Nothing is collected by reading the site. There is no account, no login, no profile, and no tracking of what you look at. Information reaches Arohan only when you choose to send it, through one of two forms.

  • The contact form: your name, your email address, and what you write in the message field.
  • A Foundry download: your name, your email address, and which file you asked for.
  • Both forms: whether you ticked the box asking for occasional updates. It is stored as a plain yes or no so that it can be honoured.

Why it is collected

Your name and email are used to answer you, and to send the file you asked for. Which file you asked for is recorded so it is clear what a conversation is about.

If, and only if, you ticked the updates box, your email may also be used to send occasional updates about Arohan. You can say stop at any time and it stops; every such message will say how. If you did not tick it, you will not be sent updates, and ticking it is never a condition of anything.

Where it is stored, and who else sees it

Form submissions are stored by Netlify, which hosts this site, and are emailed to Arohan. Netlify's servers are outside Canada, mainly in the United States, which means the information is subject to the laws of the country it sits in and can be reached by authorities there under those laws. That is disclosed here because Canadian privacy law expects it to be.

Nothing is sold. Nothing is shared with anyone for their own purposes. The only third parties involved are the ones needed to run the site: Netlify for hosting and form storage, and Cloudflare for the anti-spam check on the forms, which sees technical signals about the request rather than what you wrote.

How long it is kept

Submissions are kept while the conversation they belong to is live, and reviewed periodically after that. If you would like yours deleted sooner, ask and it will be deleted, usually the same day.

Server logs kept by the host, which record things like an IP address and the page requested, are held on Netlify's own schedule rather than Arohan's.

Your rights

The first four cost nothing and need no particular form of words. An email is enough.

  • Ask what is held about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Have anything inaccurate corrected.
  • Withdraw consent for updates at any time, without affecting anything else.
  • Ask for your information to be deleted.
  • Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with how a request was handled.

Children

This is a business-to-business site and is not directed at children. Arohan does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority.

Changes

If this policy changes in substance, the date at the top changes with it. There is no mailing list for policy updates; the date is the honest way to check.
